Designed for discriminating boat owners unwilling to settle for anything less than the best electronics, the 8000i is a one-stop solution for navigation and entertainment, complete with chartplotter, radar, depth sounder, video and network camera monitor, DVD/CD player, music jukebox, instrument repeater and a fuel/engine management system. 

The Northstar 8000i is the most modular, expandable and flexible networked system on the market. Integrating the finest in navigation technology with the latest in entertainment functionality, the 8000i maintains Northstar’s legendary ease of use while turning heads with an exciting stylish design and slim profile. Suitable for single or multi screen installations, the 8000i is available with a choice of 12” or 15” touch screen displays

Networked System
The 8000i is a comprehensive networked system capable of supporting multiple screens simultaneously. Data transfer between units is instantaneous, and the entire network can share information with lightning fast speed, with each device able to independently display and control all data. The 8000i installation uses common network cabling with a marinized, waterproof connector system to transfer all data throughout the vessel. 

Touch Screen Display
With the 8000i’s  innovative, infrared, touch screen display, users have fingertip access to all menus, submenus and device operations. Toggling between functions, setting waypoints, building routes, panning and selecting specific chart areas can all be accomplished with a simple touch of the screen. The 8000i also features a built-in keypad that operates the same software interface. Additionally, any human interface device (HID), e,g, a USB pointer, keypad, mouse, or trackball, can be used to control the unit, the simplicity of the user interface remains the same regardless of the selected input method. To ensure an optimal display experience, a specialized new coating was developed for the 8000i screen to eliminate glare and reduce

fingerprinting. 

Infotainment
The Northstar 8000i is a completely self-contained entertainment system. Users can store media files directly on the device’s hard drive, allowing access to video and audio libraries from any display on the network. The 8000i plays DVDs and CDs, and any CD that is played can be recorded and added to the digital jukebox. Plus, users can load their digital music from home with a memory stick. The 8000’s STEREO Line out allows connectivity with any vessel’s existing amplifier and speakers. The new system is also completely adaptable, i.e. users with a 42" state of the art plasma display in the saloon can simply connect the 8000i black box, and an 8000i remote keypad, and transform their existing technology into a fully functional 8000i.

Cartography
The Northstar 8000i uses the latest vector cartography from Jeppesen. C-Map Max PRO provides recreational boaters access to a charting system similar to those used on large commercial vessels. The entire chart library is contained on the 8000i hard drive, eliminating the need for keeping track of chart cards. Boaters can access chart regions simply by contacting C-Map or authorized C-Map dealers for a license key. Regular chart updates/corrections can be performed by CD/DVD, or downloaded from the internet and load by memory stick.
